There are many scholarships and grants available for those who want to search them out and do the necessary work to apply. Usually they require a written essay or for the student to have an affiliation to the group offering the award.

An important point regarding scholarships/grants is that they are almost always offered in the home country of the student even if they are valid for overseas studies.
