Credit and debit cards, such as Visa, MasterCard, Dinners Club and sometimes American Express are widely accepted in Chile. Traveler's checks in US Dollars, for the best exchange rate, are accepted although you may experience some difficulty exchanging them outside major cities.
We recommend that you contact your bank before your trip to see what options are available to you and to inform them of your pending departure. This should eliminate any concern they may have when you start to use your cards in a foreign country.
