Spanish Background: I did a semester abroad in Mexico doing a Spanish Immersion course.
Favorite Chilean Thing: I love the bread here. There is fresh, hot bread in like every grocery store here. You just walk in and it's streaming hot ready to take home. It's amazing.
Memorable Quote: The three weeks I've be here have been equivalent to three months I spent in Guadalajara Mexico learning Spanish.

One thing I find fascinating about living in another country is the cultural differences. Customs are not right or wrong, they are simply different and to get to know the people there is no better way in my opinion than through local customs. Some customs will seem very normal, at least they were for me, while others are what locals take for granted and are necessary to understand in order to have a successful shopping trip.
Join us for an exciting Flea Market Sunday May 16th from 10:00 - 3:00pm at Escuela Fronteras - (directions)
If you have things to sell, you may rent a table for only 2,000 pesos (US $4.00). Local Business may also rent a table to promote your organization and to get the word out to our community of local Expats!
Snacks, drinks and delicious Italian Milanesa sandwiches will be available.
We are expecting a good crowd so show up even if its for mere curiosity. Remember this is a good opportunity to make some extra money and meet all of our interesting people or just to get involved with our community!
Dear friends and family of Escuela Fronteras. I am pleased to report that apart from some minor damage, we are all doing well here in Santiago Chile. We thank everyone for their inquires, well wishes and concern.
It is in times like this that we come together as a community and the best part of us has a chance to shine. The image to the left is of the earthquake and resulting tremors we have been having for the last two days. It really looks much worse than it has been here in Santiago. A short article in the Wall Street Journal or BBC News will give you a good understanding why, for the most part, we have not been harmed.
You may want to review some maps put out by the New York Times showing the reach that the earthquake had. As you can see we are at the far end of the danger zone.
To this end, all classes and in-school activities have resumed at their regular times. The city of Santiago has returned to normal so that we can focus on ways to help our Chilean brothers who are truly in need.
This is not to downplay the true suffering of the families who have lost loved ones closer to the epicenter. Our hearts go out to those families, while we are thankful that it was not much worse for everyone here in Chile. We at Escuela Fronteras are collecting non-perishable goods to be donated to Chile's Red Cross to help needy families in the effected zone.
As we have more information, we will update this post on our website. If you need to contact the school, please use the following links to do so: [ Email | Telephone ]
As always, best regards from all of us here at Escuela Fronteras!
Ryan Tucker USA Cuando yo vine a esta escuela, yo entendía casi nada en español. Ahora, después cuatro semanas, no puedo creer cuanto información he aprendido. Mucho gracias por todo.
